Brief History of Chiropractic
The first Chiropractic adjustment was performed on September 18, 1895 by Dr. Daniel David Palmer, who at the time was studying the cause and effect of disease. His patient was Harvey Lillard, a deaf janitor whose hearing problems had ailed him for seventeen years. Dr. Palmer examined Lillard's spine and discovered a "lump" on his back. Suspecting that a vertebra was out of place, he applied a gentle thrust to reposition the spine. After several treatments, Harvey Lillard's hearing was restored. This was the birth of Chiropractic. Since then, the art and science of Chiropractic has progressed. Today, with advanced diagnostic procedures, sophisticated equipment, scientific research, and the growing acceptance among other health care professionals, Chiropractic has become a popular health care choice.
Chiropractic Philosophy
At the core of Chiropractic philosophy is the belief that the body can heal itself. There are two main concepts that form the base of Chiropractic philosophy:
- The structure and condition of the body influence how the body can heal itself.
- The mind-body relationship is instrumental in maintaining the body's
health and in the healing process. By seeking to maintain the body's optimal condition, Chiropractic enables the natural healing process to occur.
The Love Concept
Hahn Chiropractic & Wellness Centers, P.C. has been built around Dr. Hahn's dedication to the "Love Concept", a philosophy emphasized by Parker College of Chiropractic's founder Dr. Jim Parker which recognizes the importance of love in the healing profession. The Love Concept enables an awareness of the inherent value of every human being that leads us to want nothing but the best for our fellow man and woman. Every member of our staff has been carefully selected for their desire to live and work according to this concept.
